Crudo is a performance born from the choreographic material of the stage piece Paisaje dentro de Paisaje: 2. Lo Animal, premiered at Teatros del Canal on May 3, 2023.

Crudo is an exploration of the human body’s form in union with space and time, a vision of the body through shape, matter, fold, relief, and landscape. In the piece, the performers’ bodies surrender to physical resistance and to a fictionless time, emerging from an unusual calm that only occurs through the intention of inhabiting space. The maneuver becomes ritual, an eternal and unshakable movement.

The work appeals to one of the core principles of the Paisaje dentro de Paisaje research: the only means by which human beings can merge with the landscape, becoming flesh and landscape as one, is through ritual. From this belief, the work is constructed following the qualities that define ritual: a specific mental state, formalism, immutability, rules, and performativity.

The ultimate goal of Crudo, as in other works by La Señorita Blanco, is to reach the sacred—not sacred in the religious sense, but in capturing the precise moment when the body merges with the landscape, where the body disappears, allowing the animal essence within us to appear, where flesh becomes particle and beauty. However, the sacred is not something to be executed but something that appears before the spectator when the ritual is activated in an unalterable way.
